Can’t find what you are looking for? The Interlibrary Loan Department can help…
What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service which enables you to borrow materials from other libraries.
Who may use ILL services?
This service is available to anyone with a Council Bluffs Public Library card. If you belong to Omaha Public Library or an Iowa Open Access program participating library, we ask that you make the requset from your hometown library.
How are ILL requests made?
Simply fill out an Interlibrary Loan Request form – available at the Reference Desk – or use the electronic form below to request an item from a large network of suppliers. Fill out a seperate form for each request – no more than 5 outstanding requests per library card.
How long does it take?
It is advisable to allow at least two weeks for book requests; however, it could take longer. It is a good idea to specify a deadline date. If that deadline cannot be met by the lending library you will be notified.
How will I know when my item has arrived?
You will be contacted via the phone number or email address specified in the request form.
What are the costs?
Interlibrary Loan is a free service of the Council Bluffs Public Library. If the lending library charges a fee, you will be contacted and asked if you are willing to pay the amount requested. It is a good idea to specify your willingness to pay in the ILL Request Form.
What types of materials can I request?
Generally libraries do not loan new materials, audio/visual materials, reference materials, or multivolume sets. If you would like to request a new, popular title, please use the
Suggest We Buy form. We do not currently loan or lend eBooks.
